How to really get better at counterstrike

This can really help you, cause i can help you to get better! I have been playing cs for 8 years or so and i am not the best but i am very good, but now days i play for fun with my friends(scrimmages on irc) were just a pug.

The so called right settings, playing with other pro cs player settings won't do you any good just play with a certain GUI(cevo,cpl, others) and stick to the settings. The reason why you shouldn't change your settings beyond that is because it really doesn't matter you might think its actually better but really its the same and its in your head. As long as your getting the fps you should be getting which is usually 100 you shouldn't have problems.

One main setting that is important is the model which is cl_minmodels you can change it to 0 or 1, 1 being always the same model(leet crew only), or 0 being the different models(arctic, leet crew,guerrilla). This really can change how you play besides any other thing you might like always seeing the same guy so you know the hitboxes better, but some like to see other models so you can tell the difference

Set launch options settings.(IMPORTANT). This is extended setup-options from ^

These settings you will have to go to your STEAM LIBRARY YES THE BIG STEAM WINDOWS that shows you your game list. You will then see counter-strike you right click it and go to properties.

Common ones for LCD MONITORS(SKINNY FLAT ONES).--freq 75 -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -console

Common ones for CRT MONITORS(FAT OLD MONITORS) -freq 100 -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -console

THESE ARE COMMON for 640x480 and 800x600, 1024 some CRT monitors don't support 100 hertz. so there for i suggest you use a lower resolution cause 100 is the best and smoothest.

Resolutions?

Yes this makes a big difference, really it does for a lot of people i prefer 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. just because beyond that the cross hair is very thin looking at if you notice playing at the highest resolution or even higher like 1024 the game play isn't as smooth as 640x480 or 800x600. PEOPLE THAT HATE UGLY GRAPHICS well i recommend 800x600 just because its smooth and its not as ugly as 640x480. IF you just can't stand it use the higher resolution like 1024x768 nothing higher.

Where to start?
You just started playing and you just don't know how to shoot or aim, well first of all your gonna have to stick with playing pub servers for a while, i recommend gun-games because you get to use all types of guns and its really good for fast paced gaming. While playing gun game the key is really to find the headshot hitboxes, dont spray if there miles away just do 2-5 burst shots in the head depending on how far they are 2 being very far., If there close you spray by lowering your cross hair and move it left to right and back and forth(left & right)at a decent pace till you know how to learn to control the spray.

Think your good enough to play on a team?

Well you might think your good enough to be on a team, but how good? Playing on a team requires a lot of experience in scrimmages,

First of all your gonna need a headset(w/mic), and programs, like (mIRC, & ventrilo), I can help you with that if you want just leave me a comment.

Once you have that you will really know the reason why a lot of people play cs, playing 5v5 is the most favorite in scrimmages, without 5 its hard to find another team or pug(friends of 5 or ringers of 5 players)

Playing cs you might think it relies only on aiming yes it matters a lot, but the main thing you should rely on is your sound, your sound and you being able to hear the sound right really can show you where you enemy is which means you have a better chance then they do.

To get better its better to ring in #findringer in mIRC. yes they will most likely yell at you for not knowing what to do at times or you being lost, but that is the only way you will learn is to keep play against other teams or players in a real scrimmage.

VERY IMPORTANT: that if you wanna learn how to play certain maps and certain places you watch how pros play this is the only time you do what pros do cause really this can help you in real scrimmages. (FIND FNATIC, SK-GAMING,ETC... demos them playing other pro teams.) DOWNLOAD AND WATCH you will learn a lot even if you think you won't i guarantee you will learn at least 1 thing new you should do in a certain situation.

MOST IMPORTANT WHEN PLAYING CS!!!
Do not over play, playing while fatigue, headaches will make you worse!! and will discourage your game performance so just chill and watch t.v, go workout, do homework, go READ! and play later and you will notice your reflexes and reactions will be better.

PATIENCE and playing for longer period of times will make you better!
